I live in Bradley Beach, NJ. Public works has been rebuilding the boardwalk and dunes since right after Hurricane Sandy. They’re placing discarded Christmas trees into wooden pens on the beach readying them to be covered and remade into dunes. I had known that the dunes that got washed away were made this same way (with grasses and bushes planted on top). After the storm when sand was everywhere on Ocean Ave and the Atlantic has carried debris into town, I saw one of these brown trees a few blocks in. The boardwalk hasn’t been as bad as some nearby towns because it’s made of brick. The railings needed repair, along with some of the steps down to the beach. But overall things are looking in pretty good shape now with less than two months before Memorial Day.
