I love these photos. They’re two of the many photos I was able to get copies of from my Dad’s cousin over the weekend. My grandfather is the tallest boy in the bottom photo (also labeled #8). His twin sister and younger brother and sister are also in the group. I love the contrast between the two pictures. I think we’re more used to seeing the more stately poses like the bottom photo. That’s why the top one seems so special. It captures the kids acting like kids as they’re getting ready. It appears the photographer or some other adult had the little ones on the top version take off their hats for the official photo. The pictures were taken around 1914 in Emmett, MI.
